DISTRICT 6 CONFERENCE
From January 17th-19th, the Michigan chapter of ASDA joined 4 other chapters in the midwest for the District 6 Conference in our very own Ann Arbor! At the conference, our members interacted with other dental students from the different schools as we learned more about organized dentistry, advocacy, and diversity. We were fortunate to hear from current ADA president Dr. Brett Kessler and learn about his inspiring journey!

What was your favorite thing about the conference?
My favorite thing about the conference was definitely interacting with and getting to know dental ASDA members from other schools. It was interesting to learn about their experience of dental school and how ASDA runs at their chapters!
What is one thing that you learned from the conference that you want to apply to our chapter?
After seeing all of the amazing awards different ASDA chapters in our district won, I certainly had some ideas for our own chapter! As fundraising chair, I’d like to do something like Marquette where they took a unique approach to marketing their fundraising events through Facebook profile pictures and used social media as a way to rack up participants!
What was the craziest/coolest thing you saw at the conference?
Seeing how fun dental students can really get outside of school and on the dance floor…
Would you recommend going next year?
Definitely! I think every ASDA member should go at least once to really experience what ASDA represents not only at our chapter, but chapters around the country.
